Cholistan Jeep Rally started back in 2005 and has since grown in leaps and bounds. The upcoming rally will mark this event’s 15th edition which reflects its ever-increasing popularity. The event portrays a positive and softer image of Pakistan abroad and bring to highlight the real beauty of south Punjab’s landscape. Besides promoting tourism, such events also enhance the livelihood of the locals. The prime objective to hold this event in the heart of Cholistan desert is to show outside world its history and rich culture and open this area as a winter tourist destination.

This rally covers three districts of Punjab, including Rahim Yar Khan, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur. The rally is divided into three different categories – Stock, Prepared and Women category. Stock and Prepared categories are further divided into 4 categories (A, B, C, D).

The event shall be held on 13-16th Feb, 2020 in the majestic desert of Cholistan. More than 100 Racers from all over Pakistan will challenge the sand of the Cholistan in different categories. The Rally route has been extended to 500 kilometres in the Cholistan Desert and also includes major forts of the desert (Dingarh Fort, Marrot Fort, Khan Garh, Bhijnot Fort, Moujgarh Fort and Jamgarh Fort).

TDCP Desert Rally covers two Districts i.e. Bahawalpur & Bahawalnagar.The Total Route Distance of Rally is around 500 Kms.The Rally Starting Point is Cholistan Desert near Derawar Fort.



Event Venue is Derawer Fort (Cholistan)

The event venue is Derawer Fort (Cholistan). Approximately 95 km south of the city of Bahawalpur, the forty bastions of Derawar are visible for many miles in the Cholistan Desert. From Bahawalpur get to the GT Toad towards Karachi. From Ahmedpur East Bypass take the left turn towards Dera Nawab Cantt. Before Entering Dera Nawab Cantt take Left turn and then right. Due to opening of Motorway, the distances reduced.

Destination Bahawalpur


BAHAWALPUR

Princely state Bhawalpur is located in the southeast of Punjab province. The Abbasi family ruled over the State for more thas 200 years (1748 to 1954). Saraiki is the local language of the area while Urdu, Punjabi and English are also spoken and understood by most of the people. Bahawalpur region stretches for more than 300 miles along the Sutlej and indus River. It has a justified right to boost about diversity of its landscape, culture and heritage.

CHOLISTAN

Occupying the far south of Punjab, Cholistan desert is the most picturesque desert in Pakistan. Cholistan, locally known as "Rohi (a land of roling sand dunes) is a continuation of the Thar Desert in Sindh and Rajisthan Desert in India. Cholistan desert is about 483 km long and 64 to 290 km wide. Out of the total area 16000 Sq km is purely desert. 1000 years ago, Cholistan was a lush green valley watered by the Hakra river and the area was densely populated between the second and fourth millennium B.C. The climate of Cholistan is arid with summer temperature rising to 51.6 C and dropping to the freezing point in winter. On the edge of the desert, stands the majestic Derawar Fort suppoted by enormous round buttresses that stands 40 meters (130 feet) high.It was built by Deo Rawal, a Bhatti Raj from Jaisalmir in 852 A.D. It was captured by Abbasis in 1735, the fort slipped from thehands of Abbasis in the reign of Nawab Bahawal Khan due to his pre-occupations at Shikarpur. Nawab Mubarik Khan took the strong hold back in 1804

BAHAWALNAGAR

is the capital city of "Bahawalnagar District" situated in the south east region in the Punjab. It also contains the administrative headquarters of the tehsil. It is 192 miles south of Lahore and about 120 miles east ot Bahawalpur. River Satu passes on the northern side at a distance of about 6 miles. Bahawalnagar originally known as Hojhanwali was a small settlement consisting of few huts and shacks. This village Rojhanwali is still in existence at a distance of about 1.5 miles north of the Ralway Station. The city owes its name to the pioneering Abbasid dynasty of Nawab Mohammad Bahawal Khan Abbasi N.Punjabi is main language of the people. Urdu & Siraiki is also a very well spoken languages in remote area. People of Bahawalnagar are very loving and caring. Beautiful grassy fields, ongoing canals and river Satluj put the city into a marvelous piece of earth Bahawalnagar is an old district and even before partition it was the biggest district area wise in South Asia. People living here are setled since ages with rich culture and heritage

RAHIM YAR KHAN

Rahim Yar Khan is a city in Punjab province of Pakistan. It is the 17th largest city of Pakistan. According to the 2017 Census of Pakistan, its population is 420,419. It is the capital of Rahim Yar Khan District and of Rahim Yar Khan Tehsil. The administration of the city is subdivided into nine Union Councils. In 1881, Nawab of Bahawalpur gave this city its current name by naming it after his first-born son and crown prince Rahim Yar Khan.
